This would make it more challenging and intense in battles (something to lose). The spell staves have charges so after a certain amount of use it breaks and disappears.Downside: Eliminating spell use, eliminates level gain (would need a different way to gain levels and spell points) and, I think, the affinity system.Leave spells the way they are but make it so that each time a player dies their spell level is reset to one. This leaves spell staves and caster machines as the only method of casting the spells. Being a wizard, writing your own spells in tomes before creating them to use, and wielding a highly personalized arsenal with no 'best answer' on how to customize is great. If it doesn't any more, and you aren't running a pvp server, go right ahead and include it, as it certainly feels good knocking the enchanted sword right out of a zombie's hands.Another interesting idea I saw to make the summoned tools, like the pickaxe, actually relevant was to restrict the dig spell from mining anything above stone pick level, and people ended up using it like a mass clearer using AoE, with summoned tools or other 'conventional' tools for the detail work like ores.Now, this all may sound a bit like I hate Ars Magica, but I actually really like the mod. Side note, when I last played on a server with disarm actually enabled it seemed to bypass pvp settings, and I'm unsure if it still does.

It seems (from other forums) to be used more in a trolling/offensive stance then what I think it was designed for, to be a defensive counter. I have/ will have other methods implemented for easier travel to spawn.Daylight/Night Changing: I figure this in SMP would be annoying as it effectively lets any player turn the lights on/off.Weather Changing: I'm going to use the Local Weather and Storms mod so I'm not sure if this would conflict, requires a bit more looking into.Disarm: This seems truly OP. Any fatal damage and you survive. Have you seen that before?Appropriation: I don't mind the idea behind this but it crashes my client whenever I use it.Divine Intervention/Ender Intervention: It seems to take the risk out of risk/reward.

I have archimedes ships and a few other methods that players can achieve 'flight' so I figure it's a wash.
